Nissan GT-R laps the Nürburgring in under 7 mins 30 secs

May 6, 2008

Nissan’s GT-R, the replacement to the Skyline, has lapped the Nürburgring in under seven minutes thirty seconds.  The time was achieved by the base specifications car on April 16th and 17th, and beats the previous GT-R time by nine seconds.  To put this achievement into context it’s also ten seconds faster than the Mclaren Mercedes managed to complete the 12.8 mile track.

“At last year’s testing, we were frustrated by the conditions at the Nürburgring, always believing that the GT-R could go under seven minutes 30 seconds,” said Kazutoshi Mizuno, Chief Vehicle Engineer for GT-R. “Below seven minutes 30 seconds, the GT-R proves it is among the fastest mass-production cars in the world. We set out to build a multi-performance supercar accessible to anyone, anytime and anywhere – I believe the GT-R has delivered that promise.”

The GT-R went on sale in Japan in December 2007 and will be in US showrooms in July, extending into Europe from March 2009.  The prices will start at £52900 with £1300 additional cost for the Premium model and a further £1300 for the ‘Black’ edition.  At those prices there is little that will touch it.  We can't wait!

Mechanics - When do car tyres need replacing?

It is an EU requirement that there are 6 to 8 tread wear bars on all vehicle tyres (except tractors).

Your tyres are one of the most important parts of your car, make sure they're right for the job.
