The revised Corsa of 2003 offers a update of the 2000 facelift but the changes were really only polishing over the cracks and the Corsa has been left behind in terms of style and popularity by the new Fiesta and Yaris.

The engines are all solid and as with almost any of it's rivals start off with an underpowered model in the 1.0, 3 cylinder engine. Although a smooth drive, the engine lacks the gumption to take it anywhere outside the town centre. The 1.2 model moves from limp to adequate with the 1.6 and 1.8 models the only versions to go for if you want something approaching an all around vehicle. They all offer reasonable fuel consumption, with the diesel engine offering the most consistent power and economy figures combined.

On the road the Corsa is an easy drive and the addition of power steering across the range is a real bonus, especially when parking. The suspension is set up for comfort rather than speed and as a result if you try to push it around the corners you're in for an uncertain ride, not really inspiring any coinfidence. The cabin is reasonably sized and offers an adequate level of leg and head room in the back. Visibility is good all round and with the new power steering parking is easy.

The Corsa doesn't set out to thrill or offer a great driving experience but it does offer a cost effective method of travel for those who just want to get from A to B without any fuss.
