The 207 has taken little time finding it's place in the top selling list of UK cars. Launched to keep going where the 206 leaves off and as long as you go for the right engine it does little to disappoint. The smaller engined versions offer very little in the way of action and will leave buyers wondering why they didn't spend more money...

Inside the 207 is light and feels airy, in part due to the high reaching windscreen. The front seats are firm but comfortable, although the Peugeot offset peddles remain too small and in the wrong place. This means that ultimate comfort is never fully achieved. The back seats are adequate but the legroom is not really enough for adults, but being a super mini who would expect more?

In the driving seat the quirks are soon forgotten once moving. The 207 features one of the best rides in the class, this is helped by the power steering which is weighted to offer more help at slow speeds and virtually nothing at pace. This gives a great level of feeling back through the steering wheel that really engages the driver. Coupled with the bigger engines this makes for a responsive and thrilling drive, offering a nimble car that will power from corner to corner with confidence.

If we leave aside the 1.4 petrol and diesel engines we can concentrate on the 1.6 litre turbo engine which was co-developed between Peugeot, BMW and Citroen. It has two states of tune offering either 150 and 175 BHP, the former boasting a 0-62 of 8.7 seconds. If you're going to buy a car to be more exciting than it's predecessor then these are the two options to go for. All in all the 207 has the ability to thrill drivers as long as they go for the right engine, although the lack of room in the back means the only people who will be able to share the pleasure will be children.
