The Ford Fiesta has, since it's launch in 1976, been one of the UK's most popular small cars. Launched to compete with the Fiat 127 and the Renault 5 the Fiesta has truly stood the test of time while it's rivals have been surpassed by new models the Fiesta is still rolling off the production lines and is as popular as ever.

While the first editions gave a driving experience that was best described as an ordeal, the new models are both comfortable and fun to drive. Engines are available in a wide range of sizes and performance. The entry level offers a decent level of poke for town driving but lacks a little on the motorway. If that's what you're looking for there are models up to the 100 bhp 1.6 which will see you travelling nationwide with little problem.

The Handling is assured and the cars are fun to drive both in town and on country lanes. Parking is easy and cornering precise and confident.

It's not as roomy as some of the New Kids on the block and that may let it down but it's tried and tested and has a history long enough to make it something of a national institution.
