The Q7 represents Audi's first forray into the big off-roader market. Despite decades of building cars with four-wheel-drive, it's their first real go at something that can actually go off-road on anything other than a rally track.
It enters a market thats already well serviced with the Porsche Cayenne, Volvo XC90, BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz.

Coming with many new and innovative features such as height-adjustable air suspension, the Q7 is able to give the clearance needed to tackle boulder-strewn conditions without scraping its underside, useful if you need to tackle the school run in West London. That said the ride is set up for in town rather than off road use.
There are a choice of 12 petrol and diesel engines ranging from the 3.6 V6 up to the 4.2 V8. The fuel economy reflects the size of the vehicle starting at 28 mpg for the most frugal model going to 21 mpg for the most avaricious.

At a time of rocketing fuel prices and environmental concerns is it irrisponsible to own such a car?
