Ford Launched the Puma in 1997, hot on the heels of the Ka. It offered a sleeker, sportier version of the popular supermini and also shared a number of components with the ever popular Fiesta.
Launched with a 1.7L engine that makes all of the others feel inadequate the puma is a right handful. 0 – 60 in 7.8 seconds feels pretty quick and the well balanced handing makes the Puma a treat to take out. The gearbox is slick and offers great delivery of the big cat’s power.
The Puma is a little car, and as such the room inside is pretty miserly. The back seats are definitely not gonna suit anyone over the age of ten, and even those in and around puberty will be cramped. That said the front seats are comfortable and the room at least adequate. The boot space is less than generous but with the back seats down there’s plenty of room, maybe a two seater option as standard works better?
The Puma is a cheap fun car to own and drive. Don’t expect to get too many people into it and you’ll have endless fun driving it.
