The Seicento was brought in to replace the Cinquecento, one of the first of the new crop of ‘City Cars'. Never really taking itself too seriously the Seicento was around form 1998 and 2004, when it was replaced by the new Panda.
Although it's retail price was keen the Seicento felt well made and nicely put together. The only worry with the car was the lack of protection in the event of a crash as the side doors don't come with airbags. Driving the Seicento is a pleasant and engaging experience. It offers decent levels of feel through the steering is surprising for a car of it's size, and the steering is precise and true.
The 1100cc engine, as standard on later models, is a nippy little performer that has enough pull and power to take on small motorway journeys. It's not really suitable for longer journeys on the nations motorway network as it's somewhat lightweight, but it's better than many of the ‘City Slickers'.
The front seats are comfortable enough and have adequate head and leg room. The back is a pleasant surprise but feels cramped over distance, but again it's a small car.
The Seicento was an admirable step on from the Cinquecento and offered pleasant in town driving with a little more. Not renowned for their reliability they're probably best purchased with FSH now.
