Ford Mondeo Estate 2000 - 2007

Offering an executive ride without the executive pricetag the Mondeo has long been Europe's best selling large family car. With Electric windows and air conditioning as standard the passengers will enjoy a comfortable ride, if occasionally suffering excessive road noise.

There are a wide vairety of engines available most offering a decent level of performance. The 90 bhp diesel engine feels somewhat underwhelming but the bigger engines offer a good level of power and performance. The 3 litre option has a 0-62 in 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

It's in the handling that the Mondeo really shines. Offering a rewarding reassured drive. The steering is precise and perfectly weighted, offering a light touch when parking and the right level of restance at speed to offer a real feel of the road. The generous boot space available from the estate model is done so without any compromise in the handling department.

The Mondeo had made the best large family car award it's own for a while now. Can anybody take it from them?
